I want to let you know that last weekend, I was invited to a wedding of my friend who is a medical student, and during the reception, I ended up sitting at a table and having a talk with a group of doctors, the whole group of doctors were young specialists, and they had recently finished their FCPS and some of them MD degrees. As they were young doctors so our conversation naturally drifted to career opportunities, and I was so surprised at that moment when I came to know how many of them were still struggling to find good teaching opportunities in reputable institutions.
You know what? In a group of young doctors, there was Dr. Sarah and who specialises in Anaesthesia, and she was talking about something that really stuck in my mind. She was explaining that she spent years in her education to become a specialist, but she could not find reasonable job positions as she wanted to teach, to shape the upcoming generations of doctors. She also said, the problem she is facing is that good academic positions are so rare, and when the positions are announced once in a blue moon, she often finds out too late.
The conversation that I had with Dr Sarah has been on my mind all week. And today morning when I woke up, I went through the PPSC website, which is something I do almost daily because I know the value of timely information. I came to know something that immedately made me think of Dr. Sarah and all those doctors at the wedding.
