Listen, I’ve been keeping an eye on government job announcements for a while now, and I just had to share this one from the Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department. It’s exciting because environmental jobs are definitely the way forward, and Punjab is finally stepping up with some solid positions.
They just posted five openings, ranging from BS-16 to BS-18. If you’ve got a background in engineering or a degree in environmental science, this could be a great opportunity for you. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2026, so you’ve got about two weeks to gather your documents.
Let me break it down for you.
Quick Overview – What's On The Table
Let's Talk About Each Position (The Real Deal)
So, I want to break down each position for you. The official notifications can be a bit boring, right? Here’s my take on what each role is about and who should really think about applying.

Personal Assistant (BS-16)
An interesting post! Though technically an administrative role, don’t underestimate it. You’ll be working alongside senior officials in the environment department, and so you’ll be right in the middle of climate policy discussions. The requirements, however, are pretty specific - 70 words per minute shorthand in English and 35 words per minute typing speed. You’ll also need that three-month Office Automation Certificate covering MS Office, internet, and email.
This is my personal opinion of the post. The job is pretty simple for a civil servant if you just want to get your feet in the door of the government service and have a good background in administrative tasks. The BS-16 level is not the highest, but it is respectable, and the experience you’ll get in the environmental sector is invaluable. The salary for the BS-16 level is usually Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 68,000, depending on your increments.
Assistant Director Positions (BS-17)
Three positions are available, and honestly, these are the best ones if you ask me. BS-17 is basically somewhere between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000 per month, plus all the government perks which we all secretly love, such as health insurance, pension, and job security.
Emerging Technology - Very exciting, because for the first time, Punjab is investing in technology-based environmental solutions. Air quality monitoring systems, waste management technology, renewable energy infrastructure - this is the place to be. If your degree is in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, you are eligible.
Training - For the people who also love teaching and capacity building. Training module development, workshops, you name it - you are going to be educating people about environmental best practices. It's the feel-good factor because you're directly involved in awareness and skill development.
Technology Transfer - So this is about taking one step closer in implementing innovative environmental solutions from their research phase to practical application. If you are the go-to person who loves making that bridge between theory and practice, this position should suit you.

Deputy Director (BS-18)
This is the big one. With BS-18, you’re moving up to a position of leadership with real decision-making authority. The salary range is in the neighborhood of Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 95,000, and that’s before allowances. The thing is – you’re required to have an MS, M.Phil, or MSc Hons degree with three years’ relevant experience.
It’s worth noting that the experience is relevant, and they’ll expect practical experience gained after your master’s degree. If you’ve worked in a private company, you’ll have to check that it’s SECP or another regulatory body-registered, because they will not accept experience from random unregistered companies.
I like the fact that you’ll be dealing with strategic planning, project management, and implementation of policies. You’re not just going to be following orders; you’ll be governing how Punjab deals with environmental challenges. That’s a big deal.
The Common Theme – Environment
One commonality that I see in all of these postings is the focus on environmental engineering and the related fields. Punjab is clearly looking to develop technical capacity in climate change mitigation and environmental protection. Whether it is industrial pollution control, air quality management, or sustainable development projects, you will be at the forefront of some pretty important work.
You will see that HEC-recognized degrees are required for all of these positions, which makes sense as the work is highly technical. If your university is not HEC-recognized, you are out of luck, so make sure to check that.
Application Process – Let Me Walk You Through It
How to Apply
Step 1: Visit the official PPSC website or the Punjab government jobs portal
Step 2: Look for Advertisement Number 03/2026
Step 3: Find your position by case number (9G2026 through 13G2026)
Step 4: Fill out the online application form carefully
Step 5: Pay the Rs. 600 challan fee
Step 6: Upload scanned documents (make sure they're clear and under size limits)
Step 7: Submit and save your application receipt
Documents You'll Need (Get These Ready Now)
Tell me that this is a joke - start collecting your documents now, as the deadline will be sooner than you anticipate. What are all the things that you will need for most of the positions:
First of all, CNIC - make sure it’s valid and a clear copy. Your educational certificates and transcripts - all of them, from matriculation onwards. If your degree has not been verified by HEC yet, do that now. They might ask for verification. You’ll need a domicile certificate, which is specific to Punjab.
You’ll need a document proving your typing speed and the Office Automation Certificate you’ll need for the Personal Assistant position. Don’t try to guess - they will test you. For Deputy Director, you’ll need proven evidence of your three years of experience - employment letters, salary slips, experience certificates - everything.
Here’s a piece of advice I’ve picked up over the years: create a digital folder and scan all your documents in high quality. The file sizes should be reasonable, but don’t compromise on clarity. There’s nothing worse than having your application rejected because of a blurry document.
My Honest Assessment – Should You Apply?
Ok, let me be honest with you. If you qualify for this, go ahead and apply for it. Here’s why i’m optimistic about these job descriptions in particular.
First, environmental jobs are future-proof. Climate change is not going anywhere, and all governments around the world are adding more environmental bureaucracy. That experience will be useful throughout your career.
Second, Punjab is actually investing in this area. The fact that they’re creating positions for emerging technology and technology transfer is a good sign that they’re serious about modernization.
Third, government job work-life balance is usually better than in the private sector. You’ll have regular hours, weekends off, and all official holidays. If you’re someone who wants stability and wants to contribute to public service, this is the place for you.
That said, I’m not going to romanticize government work. It can be bureaucratic. Decision-making is slow, and you’ll have to navigate procedural red tape. If you’re someone who wants to be involved in rapid innovation and startup culture, you might find it frustrating. But if you’re patient and strategic, you can still have a big impact within the system.
The competition will be fierce, particularly for the BS-17 and BS-18 positions. Environmental engineering graduates from the big universities will be applying in droves. Make sure your application stands out.
Important Dates You Cannot Afford to Miss
The ad goes out on February 15, 2026, and the closing date is March 2, 2026. So, you have 15 days from the ad date. Now, I advise you submit the form at least 2-3 days before the deadline because, if the technicalities happen, the website may crash, and you don’t want to be in that situation.
Put March 2 on your calendar now. Schedule multiple reminders. After you fill out your application, check the PPSC website for updates on the test dates, interview dates, and merit lists. You know how slow the government departments are with communication. So, you have to be proactive.

Final Thoughts – Why This Matters
Environmental protection is no longer a career category, but a central issue in governance and development. Pakistan faces major environmental challenges – air pollution in cities, water scarcity, the vulnerability of agriculture to climate change, and the management of industrial waste. Those who are in these positions will literally be giving shape to how Punjab addresses these challenges.
I'm excited about these posts because they represent a move towards specialized technical expertise and not just administrative work, with emerging technology, technology transfer, and training having dedicated positions. This shows that the department is more looking at building capacity for long-term environmental planning than just dealing with a post-crisis response.
If you're a young engineer or environmental scientist wondering if you should do government service, this is a great test case. You'll have the opportunity to work on policy, project implementation, stakeholder management, and technical work – all at the same time – but actually doing real, important work.
The application fee is just Rs. 600, which is extremely cheap for government positions. There's literally no financial hurdle to applying. Even if you're not sure, I would say apply anyway. Worst-case scenario, you don't get selected, but at least you can say you attempted it.
Best of luck with applications! I sincerely hope that some of you reading this find yourselves in these positions because we could use highly capable and motivated people working on environmental solutions. The deadline is March 2, 2026 - don't miss out on this opportunity. Head over to the PPSC website, collect your paperwork, and submit that application. Your green career might be just beginning!
