Punjab Forest Jobs 2026 – 585 Posts (Ranger & Inspector)

So here's a job advert that is under the radar and should not be - Punjab Forest Department is hiring 585 personnel for two positions, which have an application deadline of March 4, 2026. That would leave you with 2 weeks to prepare and submit your application.

Now, what makes these positions interesting is that these are real government jobs of BS-09 and BS-11 grades and not for a contract job. This has 500 openings for a Forest Ranger alone, which is huge for a single recruitment. If you're FSc with science subjects and aged between 18 and 25 years, then this could be the real beginning of your journey to a permanent service in government.

So this is what both positions are about, what you need to apply, and how to practically prepare for the selection process.

📌 Department: Punjab Forest Department (Forest Secretariat)  |  🕒 Deadline: March 4, 2026  |  📍 Division: Lahore

Forest Ranger (BS-09) – 500 Posts

This is the biggest one in numbers. 500 permanent BS-09 grade forest ranger positions for the Lahore division. The job is basic field work. Forest patrolling, illegal logging control, nursery management, plantation drives, and all on-the-ground enforcement of forest policies.

The training and education requirement is simple. FSc (Intermediate) second division (recognised board), and you have to have matric in science second division.
The age limit is 18 to 25 years for both boys and girls.

Salary for BS-09 is Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 basic pay. Add on allowances of Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000. Total monthly package. Not lavish, but a permanent government job with annual increments and a pension. Good job security. For a fresh-out-of-college boy with only FSc, this is a good starting point.

The work environment is outdoor work. You are posted in a forest area. You will be dealing with wildlife issues, local communities, confrontations with timber mafia, or encroachers. You are physically fit, willing to work in rural postings, and actually care about the environment.

Inspector Forests (BS-11) – 85 Posts

Inspector Forests is the supervisory level position. You are managing Forest Rangers, larger forest blocks, report writing, coordination with the district administration, and administrative work, along with field inspections. Still very much a field job, but you have more authority and responsibility.

Education requirement is 14 years of education – BA or BSc with a second division from an HEC-recognised university. There is some leeway for the 16-year degree. Critical: your matric must be in science subjects with a second division. The requirement for science as a matric is non-negotiable in both cases.

Age bracket is slightly constricted – 20 to 25 years. BS-11 means better pay. The basic salary ranges from Rs. 32,000 to Rs. 38,000, and the total monthly package, including all allowances, is approximately Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 60,000. Again, not huge in the private sector, but secure and increasing over time.

As an inspector, you will probably be posted at either the Range level or the Divisional Forest Office level. Your work is strategic planning for forest management, coordination of plantation campaigns, handling of legal cases related to forest encroachment, and supervision of ranger teams.

How To Apply – Step By Step

Applications are being received online at the Punjab Government jobs portal https://jobs.punjab.gov.pk/. It used to be the official site for all Punjab government recruitments, but now. You need to register an account, complete the application form, upload scanned copies of your documents, and submit.

The part that people are confused about is that after you submit online, you HAVE TO PRINT OUT your application and send a hard copy of the application and all attested copies of all your documents to the concerned office address in the advertisement. If you do not send the hard copy, your online application will be rejected. The deadline for both online and hard copy submissions is March 4, 2026.

Documents needed include CNIC, domicile certificate, educational certificates (matric, FSc, BA/BSc), transcripts showing marks, recent photographs, and any other certificates mentioned in the detailed advertisement. Have all the documents attested by a gazetted officer and mail.

For domicile services and other citizen facilitation, visit the Punjab Government's main portal at https://www.punjab.gov.pk/

If you don’t have a domicile, the Punjab government has simplified the procedure for domicile. You can call 1202 or download the Dastak Doorstep Delivery App and apply for domicile from home. Don’t let the lack of domicile dissuade you from applying – get it done!

If you need to apply for domicile or verify other government documents, the Dastak Doorstep Delivery service makes it convenient at https://eservices.punjab.gov.pk/ or call 1202.

Selection Process & What To Expect

Punjab Forest Department usually conducts a three-stage selection process for these positions: written, physical fitness test, and interview. The written test is general knowledge, Pakistan studies, Islamic studies, current affairs, basic mathematics, and English. For the inspector level, there will be some questions on basic forestry and environmental science.

The physical test is no joke. They are looking at you specifically for running, long jump, high jump, and a lot of stamina. These are field posts, so they want people who can handle the work. Start training now if you are not already.

The interview will test your knowledge of forestry issues, why you want to work for the department, and your general communication skills. They want people who care about conservation, not just anyone looking for a peon post. Read up on Punjab's forest cover, main tree species, illegal logging, and government forestry programmes.

If you're exploring other Punjab government opportunities with similar age requirements and entry-level qualifications, check out the Punjab Government Contract Jobs for Planning Officer and Assistant positions.

Preparation Resources

For the written test, use standard CSS/PMS prep material for the general knowledge section. A good Pakistan Studies book with history, geography, and constitution basics. Current affairs should be daily news with a focus on environmental issues, climate change policies, and Punjab govt initiatives.

Learn more about Punjab Forest Department's conservation initiatives, ongoing projects, and organisational structure at https://forest.punjab.gov.pk/ to better understand the department you'll be joining.

Forestry knowledge for the written test specifically (especially Inspector level) - Know the most common tree species in Punjab: kikar, shisham, eucalyptus, poplar. Know basic forestry terms such as afforestation, reforestation, agroforestry, and social forestry. Browse through the Punjab Forest Department’s current projects on the official website and recent press releases.

Physical training is also crucial. Run at least 2-3 kilometres daily, practise jumps, and basic strength training. Physical test is pass/fail, and if you’re not fit, you’re out regardless of how well you do on the written exam.

Why Consider Forest Department Jobs?

Look, I’ll tell you the truth: a job in the forest department is one of the worst government jobs. There is no air-conditioned office in Lahore. You are in a rural area, facing field conditions, and you are not getting a high salary to impress your friends who are in IT or banking.

But you will get what these jobs give you, you will get permanent. You will get a pension. You will get an annual increment. You will get job security that the private sector never will give you, and honestly, if you care even a little about environmental conservation, this work is good. Our forest coverage is pathetic, and the people in this position are literally on the front line, trying to change that.

For FSc students who cannot afford to pursue further studies or do not want to pursue further studies, Inspector Forests at BS-11 is a good job for them. Of course, there are 500 posts, so your chances are better than many of the government recruitments where there are only 5 posts and 5000 applicants.

Graduates who are in BA or BSc and are not able to get a good job, the Inspector of Forests at BS-11 will give them responsibility and a good chance to grow. The Forest Department has a clear promotion path from Ranger to Inspector to Range Officer.

Students completing their education might also be interested in skill-building opportunities like the Chief Minister IT Internship Program, which offers valuable government sector experience.

Final Word

The deadline is 4th March, 2026. You have to apply online, AND you must send the hard copy documents to the address mentioned in the advertisement. You have to do both. So today, start collecting all the documents – order all the attestations, settle the domicile, and make clear scanned copies for online submission.

If you are physically fit, you have the educational qualifications, and you are in the age group, then there is no excuse not to apply. The application fee is very nominal, and if you don't get selected, you'll have the experience of going through a government recruitment process.

Never underestimate the physical fitness test. If you are not already physically active, start training now. And for the written test, remember that breadth is more important than depth. They want to check general awareness, not specialised knowledge.

Good luck. Pakistan needs more people who care about its forests. Maybe you are one of them.
